Spooky Scary Skeleton Pattern!

It’s finally October, and Halloween is coming up! I had a lot of fun making this spooky guy! :)


For this pattern, you will need:

white yarn
black yarn
scissors
a yarn needle
safety eyes [optional]

I recommend using a 3.25 mm hook.

Skull

R1 – sc 6 in magic circle
R2 – *2sc in each st* x6 (12)
R3 – *2sc in next st, sc in next st* x6 (18)
R4 – *2sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts* x6 (24)
R5 – *2sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts* x6 (30)
R6-R11 – sc around (30)
R12 – sc 18, *dec* x6 (24)
R13 – sc 17, *dec* x3 (20)
R14 – sc 17, dec (18)
R15-R16 – sc around (18)
Place eyes 9 rows from top & embroider design [optional]
Begin stuffing.
R17 – *sc, dec* x6 (12)
Stuff firmly.
R18-R22 - sc around (12)

Without binding off, continue with the chest.

Chest

R1 - chain 25 (25)
R2 - sc 25 (25)
R3 - turn, sc 25 (50)
R4-R8 - sc around (50)
R9 - switch to black. sc around (50)
R10 - switch to white. *sc 8, dc* x5 (45)
R11 - switch to black. *sc 7, dc* x5 (40)
R12 - switch to white. *sc 6, dc* x5 (35)
R13 - switch to black. *sc 5, dc* x5 (30)
R14 - switch to white. sc around (30)
R15 - switch to black. sc around (30)
R16 - switch to white. *sc 4, dc* x5 (25)
R17 - switch to black. sc around (25)
R18 - switch to white. sc around (25)
R19 - switch to black. *sc 3, dc* x5 (20)
R20 - switch to white. sc around (20)
R21 - *sc 1, dc* x8 (12)
R22-R26 - sc around (12)

Bind off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Hips

R1 - chain 20 (20)
R2 - sc 20 (20)
R3 - turn, sc 20 (40)
R4-R6 - sc around (40)
R7 - sc 3. turn, skip 5 st, sc in 6th st. (7)
R8-R18 - sc around (7)
Bind off, leave tail for sewing.


Skip 11 st from noodle, sc in 12th st
R19 - skip 5 st, sc in 6th st (7)
R20-R30 - sc around (7)
Bind off, leave tail for sewing.

Limbs (make 4)

R1 - magic circle 5 (5)
R2 - 2sc in each sc around (10)
R3-R17 - sc around (10)
At this point, lightly stuff.
R18 - skip 4 st, sc in 5th st (6)
R19-R33 - sc around (6)
Bind off.
R34 - go back to middle of arm. sc to attach.
R35-R49 - sc around. (6)
R50 - sc across both sections to connect.

Bind off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Hands and Feet (make 4)

R1 - sc 6 in a magic circle (6)
R2 - 2sc in each sc around (12)
R3 - *2sc, sc in next sc* x6 (18)
R4-R15 - sc around (18)
Flatten, then sc both sides together. (9)

Chain 2, sc in same st, sl st in next sc, 3hdc in next sc, skip 1 then sl st in next sc, 2hdc in next sc, skip 1 then sl st in next sc, sc in next sc.

Assembly

Sew the hips to the chest, the limbs to the body, and the hands and feet to the limbs.

To make a “cuff” around the wrists and ankles, sc beginning about 2 or 3 rows from the end of limbs and then sc towards the hand or foot, covering where you have sewn the two together. Once you think your cuff is long enough, binds off and weave in.


Use black yarn to embroider fingers/toes on the hands and feet, a mouth for the skull, and then down the center of the front of ribcage to separate the ribs.

Using white yarn, embroider down the center of the back of the ribcage to create the spine.
